Overview of our favorite beaches in vieques
Vieques boasts some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in the Caribbean, each one providing a unique experience. The South side of the island has the best swimming and snorkeling. The North side faces the Atlantic Ocean, and is great for surfing or body boarding. With so many beaches to choose from, you'll want to return to the Island again and again.
Here's a list of our favorite beaches:
La Chiva - Named by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the top 10 beaches in the world, this is a beautiful white sand beach with very shallow water. There are 21 entry points, each offering a unique perspective of this beautiful beach. For snorkeling, swim out to Cayo La Chiva.
Navio - Known for the caves on the east side of the beach and stronger currents, great for boogie boarding.
Sunbay - The only public beach on the island with showers, campground, cafe and lifeguards. Features a mile stretch of white sand, turquoise water and shady palm trees.
Punta Arenas - 3/4 mile stretch of beach on the Northwestern tip of the Island, great for snorkeling, swimming and fishing. A bit hard to get to, but worth the trip
